Police thwarts attempt to murder, one arrested

JAMMU, Aug 23: Police today thwarted an attempt to murder and arrested a hard core criminal from Reshamgarh Colony, falling under the jurisdiction of Bakshi Nagar Police Station.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Bakshi Nagar police station laid a naka near Reshamgarh Colony and intercepted a person moving suspiciously.
During checking, police recovered a shard edged weapon ‘sword’ from his possession and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Vikas Nanda alias Vicky alias Khatta, son of Late Ram Paul, resident of Mazdoor Colony.
He said that the accused had visited the area with an intention to eliminate one person namely Parul of Reshamgarh Colony, with whom he had an old enmity, adding that the accused was also involved in various other cases registered with different police stations.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Bakshi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.
Police party led by SHO Dileep Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Shabir Khan.
