JAMMU, Feb 24: Police have not been able to recover a Self Loading Rifle that had been snatched by the miscreants from the police personnel at Bari Brahmana on Monday when nine police personnel including six from Himachal Pradesh and three from Bari Brahmana police station had been held hostage.
Police said the miscreants had snatched a SLR along with 30 rounds and a carbine with almost similar number of rounds from the police personnel, who had been held hostage by the miscreants.
Pictorial evidence available with police clearly showed the miscreants firing with carbine towards the police personnel till they exhausted all rounds. While police had then recovered carbine from the miscreants, it hasn’t been able to trace missing SLR along with at least 30 rounds so far, which could become a serious security threat.
Sources said police has obtained pictorial evidence, which showed the miscreants firing from a carbine snatched from the police personnel indiscriminately targeting the cops, who had gone to rescue the police personnel held hostage by the miscreants.
Sources admitted that accused involved in making the constables hostage, opening firing on them and decamping with SLR were untraced.
