RAMBAN, May 5: A policeman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river Chenab here today.
As per police sources, a Selection Grade Constable (SgCt) identified as Mohammad Iqbal, son of Ghulam Rasool Tantray of Tethar, tehsil Banihal posted at District Police Line (DPL) Ramban allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river Chenab here.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and divers were pressed into service to fish out the body.
Due to strong current of water, the body could not be traced out till late night.
A case in this regard has been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind such extreme step.
