Political parties celebrate R-Day

JAMMU, Jan 27: Various political parties celebrated Republic Day with great enthusiasm and national fervour across the State on Saturday.
Pradesh Congress Committee celebrated the occasion at the Party headquarters Shahidi Chowk here, which was attended by several senior party leaders. DCC Jammu (Urban) unit organized this function under the leadership of district president and Ex-MLA, Om Chopra. Senior leaders of the party hoisted national flag at the main chowk outside the Congress office. Several Pradesh and District unit functionaries of the party participated on the occasion. After flag hoisting, sweets were also distributed among the people.
Congress party workers also organized yet another function at Bakshi Nagar main market under the leadership of Anil Chopra, secretary, PCC. Dr A S Bhatia from GMC Jammu and SHO Bakshinagar were also present. After flag hoisting, national anthem was sung by the participants. They also distributed sweets and greeted people on this occasion. A langar was also arranged for the common people by the organizers.
Indian National Trade Union Congress (J&K), under the leadership of State president, Shiv Kumar Sharma organized a function at Company Bagh here to mark the day. SE PHE Rajnish Bal who was chief guest hoisted national flag. While speaking on the occasion, chief guest and INTUC chief congratulated the people on the occasion. They spoke on the importance of the day.
INTUC Unit Udhampur celebrated Republic Day at PHE Station Barrian, under the leadership of Som Nath, district president. SE, Hydraulic Circle, Udhampur R K Jerath was the chief guest while Executive Engineer Ashwani Anand was also present. He hoisted national flag in presence of INTUC members and other workers of the department. The gathering of children and INTUC workers sung national anthem.
Congress Seva Dal, another frontal organization of Congress Party organised a function to celebrate Republic Day at Roop Nagar here today. State chief organizer of Seva Dal, Balwinder Singh Sambyal who was chief guest, hoisted tri-colour on the occasion. He also participated in two other similar programmes at Gandhi Nagar and Shakti Nagar here. Trikuta Nagar Congress unit celebrated the R-Day under the leadership of Nitish Mahajan, senior Youth Congress leader. SDPO East, S S Samyal was the chief guest while retired DC BS Mastana and SHO concerned were also present. After flag hoisting, National Anthem was sung by the participants.
State Unit of BJP organized a grand function in connection with the Republic Day at Party office, under the leadership of State president Jugal Kishore here today. Former State presidents Dr Nirmal Singh, Ashok Khajuria, Shamsher Singh and other senior leaders Dr Jitendra Singh, Kavinder Gupta, Vivod Gupta, Ramesh Arora, Sakina Bano, Yudhvir Sethi, Ashok Koul, Amarnath Gupta, Sat Sharma and others were also present on the occasion. State president hoisted the National flag. It was followed by singing of National Anthem by the participants. Sweets were also distributed.
Meanwhile, Jugal Kishore and MLA Ashok Khajuria also hoisted National Flag at City Chowk, Dr Nirmal Singh and Baldev Singh Billoria at Gangyal Chowk, Dr Jitendera Singh at Trikuta Nagar while, senior leader Chander Mohan Sharma at New Plot. Udhampur unit of the party, organized flag hoisting ceremony at Gole Market under the leadership of Pawan Gupta.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) celebrated the Republic Day with great pomp and show at the party office Gandhi Nagar here today. Senior party leaders S Rangil Singh, Ved Mahajan, Shanti Devi, Th Balbir Singh, Ghulam Nabi Lone, Fallail Singh, Ashok Jogi, Surjeet Kour, Depinder Kour, Hussain Ali Wafa and others hoisted national flag and sung national anthem.
Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) State unit also organized a function in connection with the Republic Day at party office Narwal Pain (Satwari). State president of the Party Tulsi Dass Langeh unfurled the National Flag. Several senior leaders of the party and other functionaries were present. They sang National Anthem and then distributed sweets.
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN), led by Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir celebrated 64th R-Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at Paloura. Youth leaders of the party Arun Sanson, Tejinder Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Zahir, Manik and others hoisted tri-colour and sung National Anthem.
Socialistic Demoratic Party (SDP) also organised a galla function in connection with the R-Day at Channi Himmat, Jammu with great enthusiasm and national fervour. Party president Dr Darakhshan Andrabi hoisted National Flag. The party activists sung National Anthem and distributed sweets. Dr Andrabi greeted the people on the occasion. Ajay Sharma, Kamaljit, A S Wazir, Peer Abdul Majid were also present.
National Democratic Party (NDP) also organised a function in this connection at the party office, B C Road here today. President of the party, Ravi Bakshi hoisted National Flag and sung National Anthem along with other party functionaries. Mr Bakshi greeted the people on the occasion and distributed sweets among the gathering of people.
Bharatiya Bahujan Party (BBP) also organised a function in this connection at Nehru Market Ware House here today under the leadership of state president Kanchan Sharma. Mrs Sharma along with other party functionaries unfurled the National Flag and sung National Anthem. G S Jammoria, Puran Chand, Tara Chand Bhagat, Buta Ram, Ms Anju and Vimla Devi were also present. Bharat Vikas Parishad under the leadership of D R Kotwal, provincial president, hoisted National Flag at Trikuta Nagar, Sector 9 on Saturday. Several office bearers of the organization were also present.
Jammu and Kashmir People’s Front (JKPF) also celebrated R-Day in a function held at Dogra Nagar. Chief patron of the party Satish Poonchi hoisted tri-color in presence of locals and other party activists. Sweets were also distributed on the occasion.
Samajwadi Party (Migrant Cell) organized a function in this connection at Jagti near Nagrota under the leadership of Ashok Koul. General secretary of the Cell, Inder Labroo unfurled national flag.
Maheshwar Singh Manhas, Senior Congress leader urfurled National Flag at Paloura on the 64th Republic Day in which large number of people of the area participated.
Mr Singh while speaking on the occasion paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country. Mr Singh stressed the need for maintaining the unity and integrity of the country. He further appealed the people to work for peace and brotherhood.
Rajesh Bakshi, District President NC Jammu Urban and Corporator Cantoment Board Jammu hoisted the National Flag in a function organized at Airport Road.
