JAMMU, Jan 27: Various political parties celebrated 66th Republic Day in various functions organised across the State.
State BJP unit organised a grand function in this connection at the party headquarters Kachi Chawani here today. State president of the party and Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief guest. He along with other senior party leaders unfurled the national flag. It was followed by National Anthem and distribution of sweets.
While congratulating the party leaders and workers on the occasion, the MP claimed that with the each passing day, the democracy in the country is getting more strong. Now, we can surely boast of being the strongest democracy of the world. He said that the day also reminds us of the pre-independence struggle where in the nation was yearning for own Government and for which thousands of patriotic people laid down their lives to get the motherland freed from the British. On this day we all should take a pledge to work for unity and integrity of the country and not allow any anti-national element to breed on our soil.
MLA (Elect) Jammu West Sat Sharma, MLA (Elect) Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, MLA (Elect) Vijaypur Chander Parkash Ganga, MLA (Elect) Dalip Singh Parihar, MLA ( Elect) Bhaderwah, senior leaders Romesh Arora, Ashok Koul, Col Uttam Singh, Amarnath Gupta, Suresh Jamwal, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Mohan Singh Rana, Parmodh Kapahi and others were also present.
Meanwhile, MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma (CA) in different functions organised in the constituency hoisted national flag to mark the day. The MLA reached almost every ward of Jammu West and joined people to hoist the tri-colour. He greeted the people on this occasion.
MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta also hoisted national flag at various places including City Chowk, Pacca Danga, Rajinder Bazar, Hari Market and Raj Tilak Road. A large number of people joined the MLA to unfurl the national flag. Mr Gupta greeted the people on this occasion.
MLA (elect) Ramnagar, RS Pathania, in an impressive function held at Govt Higher Secondary School Khoon inspected parade and hoisted national flag. The children of the school presented an impressive cultural programme. Principal gave welcome address and it was followed by impressive speech by the young MLA. He also gave away the prizes to the participants.
MLA (elect) Nowshera Ravinder Raina and SDM Hitesh Gupta unfurled the national flag in a function held at Govt Higher Secondary School, Boys Sunderbani. A large number of people of the area including prominent persons and Sarpanchs attended the programme. The children presented an impressive march past and cultural programmes. Both the special guests spoke on the importance of the day and also distributed prizes among the participating children.
Former State BJP president Shamsher Singh Manhas in a function held at JK Colony Ploura unfurled national flag o the Republic day. A large number of party workers and people of the area attended the programme and greeted each other. Chairman JK Colony Welfare Committee Vijay Sharma and president Joginder Singh besides Bahadur Singh and R K Sharma also attended the function.
Bishnah unit of the BJP in an impressive function held on Monday, celebrated Republic Day. Former MLA ( Ashwani Sharma) in presence party leaders Shilpi Verma (State Executive Committee member), Mandal president Bishnah, Bishan Choudhary, Arnia Mandal president Rajiv Gupta and N D Sharma.
An impressive function was held at Shaheed Maj Ajay Singh Park and Sainik Colony, Sector C where Retd (IGP) and senior BJP leader Farooq Khan hoisted the national flag. Mr Khan and several others paid tributes to Shaheed Army officer and also to the freedom fighter. They recalled their sacrifices for the freedom of the country. B S Jamwal advocate, B S Manmohtra, Col (retd) S S Chib, Col (retd) G S Babbar, Col ( Retd) Mansotra, S Prithpal Singh, Capt ( retd) Gobind Singh and several others were present on the occasion.
BJYM unit also celebrated R-Day and hoisted National flag in the function held at Marh. State secretary Partap Singh Jamwal unfurled the flag in presence party activists and locals of the area. Mr Jamwal greeted the people on this occasion. Aseem Gupta, BJP Prabhari of district Samba and state publicity secretary of the party also hoisted national flag in a function held at Trikuta Nagar Jammu today. Several party workers and prominent persons of the locality attended the ceremony.
Senior BJP leader Vikram Randhawa hoisted National flag at various functions held in connection with celebration of Republic Day at Bahu Fort, Beli Charana, Gandhi Nagar and Kalika Colony on Monday.
A large number of people and BJP activists attended these functions. Mr Randhawa while addressing the functions highlighted the significance of the day. He also prayed rich tributes to freedom fighters.
J&K People’s Front celebrated Republic Day at a function at Dogra Nagar Muthi. On the occasion the National flag was hoisted by the chief patron Satish Poonchi.The sweets were also presented among the people and school children by the office bearers of the Front.
MLA (elect) Udhampur, Pawan Gupta hoisted `tri-colour’ in a function held at Lal Chowk Udhampur. Mr Gupta who was chief guest at the function also addressed gathering and threw light on the importance of this day. Sweets were also distributed among the people gathered there.
People’s Democratic Party, also celebrated Republic Day in a function organised at party office Gandhi Nagar here. Senior party leader and former MLC Ved Mahajan unfurled the national flag in presence of other senior leaders including S Rangil Singh, Depinder Kour (Ex-MLC), Ashok Jogi, Fallail Singh, Ch Hussain Ali Wafa, Capt Anil Gour,
Amrik Singh Reen and R K Bali. A large number of party workers were also present on the occasion.
The senior party leaders Mr Mahajan, Rangil Singh and others threw light on the importance of this day and greeted the gathering and people in general on this occasion. Sweets were also distributed among the gathering.
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated with traditional fervour and patriotism at Green Belt Park, Channi Himmat. The Flag hosting ceremony was organized BJYM Jammu district President – Ishant Gupta & State Publicity Incharge – Kulbir Charak. Sh. Kavinder Gupta -MLA Gandhi Nagar grace the occasion. He hosted National Flag & after that National Anthem was sung by the people. Gupta was accompanied by Ajay Pargal – State general secretary BJYM, Bharat Sharma – State vice president BJYM, Jaideep Sharma – distt. gen. secretary BJP, Vinay Gupta & Vikram Randhawa – distt. vice presidents BJP, & Tarseem Choudhary – mandal president, G.Ngr. Speaking on the occasion.
Another function was organised by the PDP unit Jammu East at Kachi Chawni where MLA Elect Poonch Shah Mohd Tantray unfurled the national flag. Party leaders Vikram Singh, Girish Sharma Pankaj Gupta Sachin Sharma were also present besides other party workers and locals of the area.
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) celebrated Republic day in various functions organised across the State. The main function in this connection was held at party office Shahidi Chowk. DCC Jammu urban president Anil Chopra hoisted the national flag in presence of PCC, DCC and Mahila Congress, PYC, Deva Dal, NSUI and INTUC functionaries.
PCC vice president and Ex-MP Janak Raj Gupta, Mr Chopra, Gurdarshan Singh, B B Gupta, Dr Ramakant Khajuria, S S Shingari, Kanta Bhan, J L Koul and others while speaking on the occasion greeted the people and also threw light on the importance of this day. They also referred to the contributions of the top Congress leaders and other national heroes for the freedom struggle and recalled their role.
Senior Congress leader Jammu East Vikram Malhotra hoisted national flag during functions held at Parade and Residency Road here on Monday. A large number of party activists and people of the area attended the programme.
INTUC state president Shiv Kumar Sharma in a function held at Company Bagh, near MA Stadium hoisted national flag. National Anthem was sung by the INTUC activists. Mr Sharma projected demands of the PHE workers including release of 17 % DA.
BCC Bishnah also organised a function in which former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak was chief guest. Mr Charak unfurled national flag in presence of several BCC members and party activists. Capt Harshvardhan, Dr O P Saini, M L Bhagat, G L Sharma, Surjit Singh Sarpanch were also present.
Maheshwar Singh, PCC general secretary unfurled national flag in a function held at Ploura. Mr Singh along with people of the area and party workers paid tributes to martyrs and recalled their sacrifioces for the freedom of the country.
Ex-MLA Chenani Krishan Chander Bhagat unfurled national flag in a function at Ghordi in the premises of newly upgraded Higher Secondary School. A large number of people of the area witnessed the programme. Students of the school presented cultural items.
INTUC Unit Udhampur celebrated Republic Day under the leadership of Som Nath, senior leader and held flag hoisting ceremony. SE PHE Someshwar Mengi was the chief guest. Sweets were also distributed among the people on the occasion.
DCC Jammu (U) general secretary Rocky Dalmotra organised function at Ambphalla where S S Shingari hoisted national flag. Sunil Sharma general secretary DDC Jammu unfurled flag at Bikram Chowk while Pawan Sharma Sarpanch and PCC secretary hoisted tricolor at Karian Panchayat in R S Pura today.
Meanwhile, National Conference Minority Cell, unit Srinagar organised function at Shastrinagar Jammu where Harmohinder Singh president of the Cell unfurled national flag. Members of the cell and people of the area attended the programme.
National Democratic Party (NDP) members in a function held at party office B C Road, Jammu hoisted national flag. Party president Ravi Bakshi unfurled the national flag in presence of senior party members including N K Attri, Rajesh Gupta, Rakesh Khajuria, Vijay Anand, SC Sharma, Ravinder Singh and others. Mr Bakshi greeted the people on this occasion and took pledged along with other members to work for bringing reforms in the society, create awareness among the masses and launch campaign against corruption.
Janata Dal Secular in a function held at party office Raghunath Bazaar unfurled national flag. State unit president Mast Nath Yogi hoisted tricolor in presence of party workers. They paid tributes to the martyrs and recalled contribution of freedom fighters.
