JAMMU, Jan 27: The greatest fest of democracy, the Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotism across Jammu and Kashmir by national and local political parties as well as their leaders.
To mark the occasion, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) led by its senior leaders hoisted National Flag across the length and breadth of the Union Territory of J&K. The main function was organized in Jammu at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar where party’s J&K president Ravinder Raina along with former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta, Dr Devinder Manyal, Vikram Randhawa, Arvind Gupta, Rekha Mahajan, Tilak Raj Gupta and other senior leaders of the party hoisted National Flag. A massive rally was also taken out by the party from Gajansoo to Marh Chowk where Ravinder Raina again hoisted the Tricolour.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress in collaboration with Congress Seva Dal and District Congress Jammu Urban celebrated the 72nd Republic Day at party headquarter Shaheedi Chowk in Jammu. The National Flag was hoisted by vice president PCC and former Minister Raman Bhalla in the presence of general secretary PCC Yogesh Sawhney, Kanta Bhan (chief spokesperson), Ex- MLC Ravinder Sharma, Rajnish Sharma, Manmohan Singh and others.
Congress party organized main function of Republic Day in Kashmir at party headquarter, Srinagar, where the National Flag was hoisted by senior party leader Bashir Ahmad Magrey. JKPCC general secretaries Surinder Singh Channi, Shameema Iqbal and other senior party leaders were present on the occasion.
National Conference (NC) organized main function of Republic Day at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu, where provincial president Devender Singh Rana unfurled the Tricolour. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Surjeet Singh Salathia, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, Javed Ahmed Rana and others. Later, Rana also unfurled the Tricolour at Indira Chowk, the heart of the City, and greeted the people present on the occasion.
BJP leaders and activists enthusiastically hoisted the National flag at their rooftops, chowks and other important places across the UT. At Pt Prem Nath Dogra Bhawan, BJP office Kachi Chawni (Jammu), the Tiranga was hoisted by MP Shamsher Manhas and former Minister Sat Sharma.
At Bharat Mata Chowk (City Chowk), Jammu, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, party Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi, former Minister Priya Sethi, Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma and other senior leaders hoisted the Tiranga. MP Shamsher Singh Manhas hoisted Tiranga at Patoli, Paloura, Patta Paloura, Roop Nagar and Kachi Chawni.
In Kashmir, Tiranga hoisting ceremonies were led by BJP general secretary (Organization) Ashok Kaul who was accompanied by other senior party leaders from Kashmir. Sat Sharma hoisted Tiranga at ward numbers 8, 9, 17, 24, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 37, 40, 41 and other places.
Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta hoisted Tiranga at Trikuta Nagar, Model Town, Kunjawani, Shivaji Chowk, Trikuta Nagar Mini Market, Rehri Association Railway Station, Gorkha Nagar, Bhatindi, Dagiana, Deva Palace, Samadhiyan near Banyan International, Apsara Theater and other places.
BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi hoisted Tiranga at Bharat Mata Chowk, Dhountli Bazar, Pacca Danga, Circular Road, Pram Nagar, Paharian Mohalla, Shalamar, Bus Stand, Chand Nagar, Jewel, Gummat Bazar, Bawe Wali Gali, Lakhdata Bazar, Kali Janni, Dal wali Gali and other places.
Former Minister and BJP leader Priya Sethi hoisted the Tricolour at East Mandal Chowk, Paharian Mohalla, Pacca Danga, Dal Wali Gali, Vikram Chowk, Kleeth Mohalla and other places while Vikram Randhawa hoisted Tricolour at Bhatindi, Narwal, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Jeewan Nagar, Dharp, Beli Charana, Raiour Satwari, Preet Nagar, Channi Rama, Gorkha Nagar and other places.
JKPCC general secretary Yogesh Sawhney unfurled the Tricolour along with other prominent Congress leaders at New Plot and Janipur while Ranjeet Kumar, vice-president AYC Jammu West hoisted National Flag at Ward Number 16 (New Plot) and Lower Roop Nagar (Sector- 7).
Senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla hoisted National Flag at Kunjwani Chowk (Ward Number 55) in the presence of Corporator Pritam Singh and other party activists.
Former Minister and Ex-MLA Marh Ch Sukhnandan Kumar (chairman, Panchyati Raj Cell of BJP) hoisted the National Flag at Border Post Gole Pattan in the presence of officers and jawans of 12th Battalion of BSF. On the occasion, Commandant BSF Dilbagh Singh and other officers laid floral tributes to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation.
BJP leader Pawan Khajuria led the celebrations at Udhampur, where massive programme was organized at Sailan Talab Matador Stand. Sunil Sharma led the flag hoisting ceremonies at Kishtwar, Vibodh Gupta at Rajouri, Dr Devinder Manyal at Diani Samba, Samba BJP office, Greater Kailash, Trikuta Nagar and other places.
Senior BJP leader and Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch Vikram Randhawa, unfurled the National Flag at 22 different places in Gandhi Nagar assembly segment including Bathindi, Chowadi, Narwal, Qasim Nagar, Gorkha Nagar, Rajeev Nagar, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Channi Rama, Greater Jammu, Dashmesh Nagar, Jeevan Nagar, Dharp, Raipur Satwari, Belichrana and Mahant Manjit Singh Nagar.
Former Minister Bali Bhagat hoisted the Tricolour at Muthi Morh near police station Janipur, amid patriotic slogans and chants by those in the attendance. He also unfurled the National Flag at Lower Roop Nagar. Earlier, he also flagged off a motor-vehicle rally from Rajinder Nagar (Bantalab Chowk). The rally was organized by Muthi-Paloura Mandal of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha.
Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and BJP leader Chander Mohan Gupta along with Purnima Sharma (Deputy Mayor) and Avny Lavasa (Commissioner, JMC) hoisted the National Flag at JMC office, Town Hall Complex, Jammu.
Panthers Party unfurled National Flag at party headquarters in Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Delhi and other places. At Jammu headquarter, the Tricolour was hoisted by senior party leaders Neeraj Dewan, Gagan Partap Singh, Surinder Chouhan and Jagdish Singh Baryal while in Srinagar, the flag hoisting was done by provincial president Farooq Dar. In Delhi, the National Flag was hoisted by NPP supremo Prof Bhim Singh.
72nd Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), Head Office, Jammu. On the occasion, Somraj Majotra, J&K president of the party, unfurled the National Flag in presence of senior party functionaries and party workers. Among others present were vice president Charanjeet Chalotra, general secretary Pritam Chand and general secretary Shashi Thappa.
The J&K unit of Janta Dal Secular celebrated the National Festival at party headquarter, Raghunath Bazar, Jammu. The National Flag was hoisted by Mast Nath Yogi, J&K president of the JD(S).
National Awami United Party (NAUP) celebrated the Day with traditional fervour and patriotism at Jammu and party office Vijaypur in district Samba. Sandeep Singh, National president of the Party, unfurled the Tricolor followed by reciting of National Anthem. Prominent members present were Pankaj Langoo, Rakesh Singh, Jagdish Raj, Pawan Sharma and others.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) youth wing celebrated the Republic Day along with senior leaders of the party at Jammu. While expressing greetings to the nation in general and the people of J&K in particular, Rishi Kilam NCP National joint secretary and spokesperson youth wing hoisted the National Flag.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) J&K unit celebrated Republic Day with the farmers of border area at Suchetgarh in RS Pura area by organizing flag hoisting ceremony. National Anthem was sung with drum beating and National Flag, note books and pens were distributed among the children of the area. The party also distributed blankets to the needy people. The program was organized by NP Singh and was attended by several party leaders.
BJP Unit of Jammu West held programs of 72nd republic day celebrations in all 26 Wards where ward units organized the programs and National flag was unfurled. The programs were organized by Corporators and BJP leaders in all wards.
Jammu East unit of BJP celebrated Republic Day and organized flag hoisting ceremony at Panjtirthi Chowk in Ward number 1 where Advocate Purnima Sharma (Deputy Mayor JMC) hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of BJP leaders and activists including former MLC Ashok Khajuria.
BJP State executive committee member Nitish Mahajan unfurled the Tricolour in different programmes organized in connection with Republic Day in Trikuta Nagar area.
Secretary, Pradesh Congress Committee J&K, Shashi Sharma hoisted the National Flag at Bishnah town and BCC office Kanhal in Bishnah Constituency in presence of members of DCC Jammu, Rural Block Congress Committee Bishnah. Youth Congress, OBC Cell, Kisan Cell, Mahila Congress and hundreds of party workers from Bishnah Constituency.
Congress leader and Corporator Ritu Choudhary hoisted National Flag in Ward number 7 in the presence of Congress activists and prominent members of the Ward.
BJP leader and Corporator of Ward number 25, Arun Khanna hoisted the National Flag at Rehari Colony Chowk and Arya Samaj (Rehari Colony) in the presence of locals.
District Congress Udhampur celebrated Republic Day with patriotic fervor. The Tricolour was hoisted by DCC president and ex-MLA Krishan Chander Bhagat at Bhagat Singh Park, Gole Market, Udhampur.
A function to celebrate Republic Day was also organized at Shaheed Major Babber Chowk, Sainik Colony, Jammu. The flag hoisting ceremony was led by Congress leader Thakur Jai Singh along with Harnam Singh Manhas, president, All India Manhas Sabha.
BJP leader and BDC Chairman Marh, Surinder Singh hoisted the Tricolour at Government Higher Secondary School Marh where students and the people of Marh block participated in the celebrations. SDM Marh Nasir Ali, Tehsildar Rampaul Sharma and other officers also participated in the function.
NC organized a grand program in Udhampur under the leadership of district president Sunil Verma who hoisted the Tricolour. He also took the salute of the Tricolor.
Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) Bishnah unit celebrated Republic Day with great enthusiasm. A large number of people from Bishnah constituency including Sarpannchs and Panchs participated in the function. On the occasion, former Minister and DSS president Gulchain Singh Charak hoisted the National Flag.
On the occasion of 72th Republic Day, a program was organized in Jammu East ward number 19. The National Flag was hoisted at Jewel Chowk by Corporator Amit Gupta and Advocate Purnima Sharma (Deputy Mayor).
JMC Corporator Rashpal Bhardwaj unfurled the National Flag at village Shahzadpur in the presence of prominent persons as well as elders of the village.
BJP booth organized flag hoisting function at Purkhoo Camp. Chand Ji Bhat president BJP Kashmir displaced district hoisted the National Flag in the presence of H K Razdan (general secretary), Rakesh Sadhu (treasurer), Maharaj Krishen (Booth president) and others.
JKNPP Youth wing leader Partap Singh Jamwal along with Bhanu Partap Singh Goria unfurled the National Flag at party headquarter in Jammu.
