JAMMU, Mar 20: The chairman of SOS International, an organisation for PoK displaced persons (DPs), Rajiv Chuni has said that some political players were trying to derail the movement of DPs for their vested interests.
Addressing a rally of the displaced persons at Gurah Bakshi Nagar here today, Mr Chuni claimed that some political parties and its opportunist leaders were trying to derail DPs’ movement. When they are in opposition, they try to win sympathy of the displaced persons but when they are in power, they change their attitude towards this community and turn hostile. He asked the DPs to remain vigilant from such politicians.
He pointed out that when Congress was in power, BJP made a hue and cry over the issue of PoK DPs but the same BJP turned hostile when it came to power. Now, Congress that is in opposition is making hue and cry. “ We are not against any individual or party but when we are cheated, it is hard to tolerate as we have been bearing the brunt for the last 70 years, “ Chuni added.
Stressing the need to get united for their common cause, Mr Chuni said that once the POJK DPs get united under one umbrella no power on the earth can deny them their rights. He alleged that Government has gone into deep slumber and to wake it up, there is dire need of beating drums by organizing large rallies and protests.
The DPs’ leader claimed that for PoK DPs’ issue, a revolution is required and it will be achieved only with the participation of people. He appealed all the DPs to come in large numbers and remain united for their rights.
