Political reservation for Sikhs demanded

JAMMU, Mar 7: Activist of minority rights, S. Ranjodh Singh Nalwa has urged upon PM Modi, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to accord due political reservation to Sikhs of J&K.
In a handout Nalwa stated that Sikhs form a patriotic and nationalistic community having a history of sacrifices for humanity and in safeguarding the sovereignty, integrity and unity of India.
“Sikhs are today feeling helpless in absence of any political representation for them in J&K,” he maintained quoting the census 2011 to say that Sikhs constitute almost 2 per cent of the total population of J&K which at present might be somewhere between 2.5 to 3 lakh.
Citing recent reports of Delimitation Commission, Nalwa said that it is painful to see that no political party has batted for political reservation to minority Sikh community but remained busy in appeasing only the majority communities.
He also demanded J&K Minority Commission at an earliest.
