Political, social leaders condemn killing of 5 Army Jawans in Rajouri encounter

JAMMU, May 5: Leaders across party lines and various social organizations today condemned the dastardly killing of five Army Jawans by the terrorists in an encounter in Kandi area of Rajouri.
Democratic Progressive Azad Party chairman and former chief minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed his grief and anguish over the death of five soldiers in Rajouri attack. “My deepest condolences to the families of the Jawans, who paid with their lives in the line of duty in Rajouri today. Over the past few decades terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir consumed precious lives and we all need to stand against it and condemn it in strongest words,” he said. He said the scourge of terrorism deserves the highest level of condemnation by all people and the time has come when it needs to be rooted out once for all.
National Conference president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and party vice president Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the killings of Army personnel. In his words of condemnation Dr Farooq said, “Terrible news of a terror attack in Rajouri that claimed the lives of 5 army jawans in the line of duty. I unequivocally condemn this heinous attack and send my condolences to the loved ones of those killed today.”
Condemning the killings, Omar Abdullah said, “Tragic news from Rajouri where five army personnel have laid down their lives in the line of duty. Terror is a scourge that has blighted numerous lives over the decades in J&K & deserves unreserved condemnation. I send my sincere condolences to the families of those we lost today.”
Meanwhile party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani and chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq also condemned the killing of Army personnel unequivocally.
Expressing shock over the martyrdom of five jawans in encounter with terrorists in Rajouri today, JKPCC said that the repeated incidents are eye opener and terrorism is again raising its ugly head in the twin border districts of Rajouri Poonch. “The Centre Government must deal with the challenge of Pak sponsored terrorism and give befitting response to terrorists and Pakistan on all fronts, said JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma and former minister and district president Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Khan. They expressed sympathy with the families of martyrs and prayed for peace to the souls of martyrs and recovery of the injured.
JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla, in a statement, said that the incident is serious and belies claims of the Government and the security heads regarding the ground situation. “My deepest condolences to the families and relatives of martyred, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” he said, adding, the incident is highly condemnable and shows that the enemies of peace are desperate to damage communal harmony and stability in the district.
While condemning the killing of Army Jawans, general secretary of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, RS Chib stated that the incident is serious and contradicts the claims made by the Government and security officials about the ground situation. He expressed his deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the martyred soldiers and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
“In yet more encounter in Rajouri region, precious lives of 5 jawans have been lost and more are injured. This is matter of serious concern that situation is deteriorating on ground because of repeated terrorist attacks by Pakistan supported terrorists,” said chief spokesperson of J&K BJP Sunil Sethi Saud while condemning the incident. Sethi noted that though security agencies are making sacrifices for sake of country but desired results are not apparent because of intelligence inputs not coming in time or enough which should be looked into by Police and Administration on priority basis.
Gaurav Gupta, former general secretary of Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) Jammu also strongly condemned the dastardly act of terrorists in Rajouri in which five soldiers achieved martyrdom and several were injured. He expressed sympathies with the family members of the martyrs’ and prayed for peace to the departed souls. He also conveyed sympathies to injured security personnel praying for their early recovery.
Jammu Muslim Front (JMF) termed the incident as highly reprehensible and unfortunate while stressing that violence will yield nothing but only further death and destruction. Chairman of the Front appealed the masses to remain vigilant and forge unity to defeat the nefarious design of enemy who is bent upon disturbing peace of the State by infusing an atmosphere of scare.
Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, in its executive meeting held today, condemned dastardly killing of five Army brave hearts by terrorists in an encounter in the terror prone area of Rajouri. All the office bearers expressed deep condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers.
