Political, social organizations, others pay homage to Handwara martyrs

JAMMU, May 4: Former Minister and senior BJP leader Bali Bhagat paid rich tributes to martyrs of Handwara encounter at Green Land Palace, Roop Nagar, where special prayers were organized for the martyrs.
While paying tributes, Bhagat expressed grief over the killings and extended his deep condolences to the bereaved families. Bhagat said that our martyred security personnel have set a true example of honesty, dedication and love for their country by sacrificing their life. He further said that for a nation to prosper it should never forget its martyrs and also war veterans.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress (JKPCC) today organized special prayers at party headquarter Jammu to pay tributes to the security personnel martyred in Handwara. The prayers meeting was attended by functionaries of PCC, DCC Jammu, JK Pradesh Youth Congress and OBC Department and others, to pay tributes to the brave hearts and pray for peace to the departed souls. The leaders saluted the bravery and sacrifices of martyrs and pledged to defeat the designs of the enemies of our country.
They conveyed deep sympathies to their families. Two minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect to the martyrs. The prominent leaders who participated include chief spokesperson JKPCC Ravinder Sharma, former Minister and general secretary PCC Incharge District Congress Jammu Yogesh Sawhney, Surinder Singh Shingari, JKPYC president Udey Bhanu Chib, and others.
Youth Congress leaders paid tributes to martyrs of Handwara by lighting the candles/diyas in front of the wall of valour. Rahul Tandon, district president Jammu Urban, PYC secretary Brinder Pratap Singh and Divyansh Singh were present on the occasion. They said that the Nation is grateful to the martyrs who sacrificed their life for the motherland.
JKPYC general secretary Nimrandeep Singh Bhullar in his message said that “We are deeply saddened by the loss of five of India’s brave hearts. The incident in Handwara is a stark reminder of the incredible sacrifice our defence forces make in order to keep our Nation safe. Salute to brave martyrs who have given highest sacrifice to the Mother India and India is proud of you.”
BJP J&K UT executive committee member Nitish Mahajan on Monday expressed deep anguish over martyrdom of five security forces personnel in Handwara encounter and asserted that the sacrifice made by security personnel will not go in vain.
He said that Government will ensure that firm and decisive action should be taken against those responsible for this cowardly act of terror. “Every drop of security personnel’s blood will be avenged and the Central Government will ensure that the supreme sacrifice made by our five brave personnel will not go in vain”, Nitish said.
Expressing grave concern over the growing incidents of militancy in J&K, Harsh Dev Singh chairman JKNPP and former Minister along with other party leaders today paid rich tributes to the Army and police jawans who laid down their lives while fighting armed insurgents in Handwara. A silence of two minutes was observed to pay obeisance to the national heroes and to pray for peace to the departed souls.
Accusing the BJP regime for its exaggerated dissonance on dismantling terror infrastructure and restoration of peace in J&K, Singh said that it had failed to save the lives of its people not only on the borders but within the territory of the country.
The entire rank and file of BJP Kashmir Displaced District paid due homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Nation in an encounter in Handwara area and condemned the Pakistan sponsored terrorism in its all forms. In a statement issued today, T N Bhat (president BJP KDD) and other leaders said conveyed deep sympathies with bereaved, their relatives and colleagues. “The loss of precious lives of our officers and Jawans is unbearable and the Nation shall ever remain indebted to the martyrs and their families,” they added.
Paying glowing tributes to the martyrs in a tele-conferencing meet, Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) led by former Minister, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak demanded that a graceful befitting national level war memorial be made for all the martyrs at a prominent place commonly visited by tourists like the Boulevard Road.
He pointed out that erstwhile J&K state permitted a designated grave yard even for the terrorists also in Kashmir but there is no memorial for the 5500 martyrs of Indian armed forces who left their nationwide homes to defend and protect the disturbed J&K state (now UT) facing a proxy war and made supreme sacrifices in line of duty, never to return.
Krishan Singh, Vr C, Awardees, Memorial Welfare Committee Urlian-Udhampur today paid homage to the brave hearts that attained martyr in Chanjimula village of Handwara two days back. In a condolence meeting held in village Urlian by maintaining the sanctity of social distancing, president of the committee, Senior Superintendent of Police (retired) Mahadeep Singh Jamwal expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the encounter.
Condemning demise of the five brave hearts in the terrorist attacks in Handwara, the K P Sabha Jammu said, “The martyrdom of our security forces which includes senior army officers and also a JKP sub inspector speaks volumes about the kind of challenges that they are facing. On the one hand they are doing exemplary work to the COVID-19 pandemic and on the other hand they are facing the terrorists attack sponsored by the rogue nation Pakistan”. It urged the Central Government to escalate the war against terrorism to save wanton loss of precious lives and teach a lesson to Pakistan.
Harmohinder Singh, president of Displaced Kashmiri Sikh Conference, vociferously condemned the gruesome attack on the security forces in Handwara in which 5 security personnel lost their lives. “Our organization pays due tribute to the brave soldiers and an officer of J&K Police,” Singh said in a statement and exhorted the people to forge unity amongst all communities to discourage the antisocial elements in this testing time of corona epidemic in country and worldwide.
Starting with deep regrets on the loss of five precious lives in Handwara encounter, Col J P Singh (retired) paid tribute to the brave martyrs and prays for the eternal peace to the departed souls and greater fortitude to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.
