Some politicians trying to communalize situation for votes: Gadkari

JAMMU, Nov 30: Union Minster of Surface Transport and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari today accused some political parties of communalizing situation in the State during elections for their vote bank politics.
Talking to reporters at the side lights of the Party seminar here, today on the topic roadmap and prosperity, Mr Gadkari while replying a pointed question asked by reporters towards the yesterday’s statement of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah that the People’s Conference (PC) chief Sajjad Lone was acting as stooge of BJP Government, he said some political parties are trying to make pitch communal during elections.
In reply to another question on Article 370, the Minister said that PM has already cleared the stand on the issue and there is no dilution on that.
Earlier while speaking in the seminar he said that BJP Government is working on development agenda and some elements were creating fear among the people on the name of religion, region and caste to continue their dynastic politics. They want to seek the vote of minorities by creating fear psychosis in their minds but BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi is wedded to build India a strong and important power and in this regard the Government has initiated many steps, he added.
“Under the Modi led Government we are not controlled by any body but by the programme of development and buzz word for BJP is “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (support of all and progress of all), he said.
Maintaining that 21st Century is the age of Science and Technology, he said the need of hour is conversion of knowledge into wealth and BJP is committed to that.
Mr Gadkari, whose Ministry has taken up many developmental projects in hand in road transport and shipping said alone his Ministry will be responsible for 2 percent growth in GDP.
Mr Gadkari said water transport has been ignored over the years despite the fact that it is the cheapest mode of transport in the country. He said many schemes under the promotion of water transport have been launched and construction of two dry ports one at Srinagar and one at Jammu is on anvil.
He said to make the transport system transparent in the country a new law is being enacted to do away with the old and outdated law in this regard. The law will be implemented after the Cabinet approval to the proposal in this regard and passage of the Bill by Parliament.
The Union Minister said that Government has now decided to construct the concrete roads all over India which are less costlier than the bitumen roads and their life is also longer than the bitumen roads. The transport service all over the country will be made toll duty free and the process in this regard has begun, he added.
These are various innovative schemes for overall development of the country so that it can compete with other developed nations of the world, he added.
The welcome address during the seminar was made by Sunil Sethi BJP spokesperson while the stage was shared by BJP Legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria, ex president Shamsher Singh Manhas and S S Bijral (retd IGP).
A volley of questions was posed by some prominent people who included president of Chamber of Commerce Rakesh Gupta, representatives of transporters from Srinagar and Jammu, secretary Contractors Association Balwinder Singh and RTI activist Raman Sharma.
The Minister earlier addressed an election rally at Arnas in Reasi district and accused the State Government of its total failure in promoting the tourism in J&K though State has a lot of potential for the same.
He said the roads in the State are in bad condition and Prime Minister, has visited foreign countries to invite investors for development.
