Politics is an avenue to help all who have really suffered: Singh

JAMMU, Sept 9: Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh, NCP State president, today praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his very prompt action in dealing with the unprecedented flood crisis in Jammu and Kashmir after visiting Jammu and announcing a big package of Rs 1000 crores after reviewing the situation in flood affected areas.
Singh briefing the press said the floods that have engulfed the city of Srinagar and all the districts in Jammu and Kashmir valley and had taken heavy toll of life and properties are unprecedented in human memory. He said the Indian Armed forces, all the three wings have swung into action and accepted the great challenge of devastation which is a great example of how dedicated are our jawans in defending the nation not only from external aggression but also from internal calamities. This shows that Indian Army is a National Army in real sense.
NCP chief has converted J&K NCP State committee and all district and block units into relief and rehabilitation committees who are helping the victims and will identify the victims to the relief authorities. Singh has appealed to the Chief Minister to make all party relief and rehabilitation committee and suggested that relief should be distributed under Natural Calamity which has got special categories for relief to the victims.
Former Minister has appreciated the role of Central Government, some Chief Ministers and business houses for funding liberally for the national calamity in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The veteran leader has appealed to all political parties not to exploit the present natural calamity for political interests during the coming Assembly elections, rather identify the forces which are responsible for degeneration of our ecology and environment and protect land and forests.
