RAMBAN, Apr 16: Polling staff members held protest here this evening and also blocked the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Hundreds of polling staff members assembled near T-Chowk here and raised slogans against the district administration. They blocked the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The protestors said that administration called them for deputation to the poling stations, but no arrangements were made by them for the meals, accommodation, etc.
“We were called for deputation to various polling stations. Some of the employees have been dispatched. Now its evening and there is no arrangement for the accommodation, meals, etc for the left out polling staff”, they added.
After getting information, Deputy Commissioner Ramban rushed to the spot and assured the protesting polling staff members to redress their genuine issues.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
As per sources, the left out polling staff members, who were protesting, were taken to Government Higher Secondary School Ramban, where all arrangements were made for them by the district administration.
