JAMMU, Sept 19: A team of legal Metrology Department and Pollution Control Board on the directions of district administration Kathua paid surprise visit to pollution checking centers operating in Kathua district and found that such centers were not working properly and violating the norms and issuing pollution check certificate without checking the emission of vehicles.
A Pollution Checking Center known as VM Gupta Pollution Checking Center was issuing the certificate without checking the emission and specification of pollution. The team also recovered dome certificate issued without checking the emission.
The team suspended the working of the center and Kuldeep Kumar, District Legal Metrology Officer, Kathua warned that action will be taken against the centre by concerning Department under rules. It may be recalled that due to implementation of latest traffic rules and regulations and increasing of fine to many fold, the vehicle owners are standing in large queues to get pollution checking certificate of their vehicles.
