Polytechnic courses soon at Udhampur: Chib

UDHAMPUR, Apr 29: Minister for Technical Education, Medical Education and Youth Services & Sports, R.S Chib today said that establishment of polytechnic institutes are instrumental in giving fillip to the wholesome development in any area. He said imparting technical education to the youth is priority of the Government as skilled persons always have edge over others to comfortably earn a livelihood besides strengthening the human resource base.
Mr. Chib was addressing a meeting of officers of different departments to review the status of construction of polytechnic campus, Sajjalta Sports Stadium, development of playgrounds etc at Udhampur last evening.
MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia, District Development Commissioner, P.K Pole, Director Youth Services and Sports, S.C Sahni, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Madan Lal, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Ashok Kumar, Principal Govt. Polytechnic College Jammu and Divisional Forest Officer Social Forestry, Udhampur were present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said required modalities for the launch of polytechnic courses be chalked out as early as possible so that the same could be started during the month of July 2012. For the purpose, he instructed the concerned officers to identify a suitable accommodation either in Government ITI building Udhampur or at Old Women College building well in time.
Expressing his concern over the delay in acquiring the land for the construction of Polytechnic college in the district, the Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur to identify a suitable land measuring more than 60 kannals with the consultation of local MLA so that the process for creating technical education facility could be launched as soon as possible for the upliftment of the area.
Responding to demand of pending construction of Sajjalta Sports Stadium, the Minister said that suspended construction work of stadium would be started soon. He also instructed Deputy Commissioner to start work on approach road to stadium along with construction of drains. He also called for proper demarcation of land pertaining to stadium so that the same can be saved from illegal encroachments.
MLA suggested that some of the chunk of state land available at different locations in the district be brought under the ambit of Youth Services and Sports Department so that same could be developed as mini stadia and play fields to boost sports culture in the district.
