JAMMU, June 19: Contin-uing their protest dharna for the 13th consecutive day, the academic arrangement staff of Government Polytechnics in Jammu held a strong protest demonstration on Monday.
During the protest dharna, being held under the banner of All J&K Polytechnics Academic Arrangements Association, the protesters raised slogans in support of their demand of regularization policy for them.
As academic arrangement staff of various colleges from Jammu division participated in the dharna, teaching work remained suspended in all the Polytechnics.
Addressing media persons at the dharna venue, AJKPAA Jammu vice president Ankush Gupta alleged that the Department of Technical Education was not bothered about those who have given 25 years of their youth to the department. “The department has itself accepted in the Legislative Council that out of 313 posts of Lecturers, 248 are vacant where as out of 89 posts of Demonstrators, 80 posts are vacant and the academic arrangements are engaged against these clear vacancies, who are the real pillars of the Technical Education Department in running 24 Polytechnics smoothly,” he said.

They also warned that their demand of including them into JK Civil Services Act or to frame regularization policy for them should be addressed earlier otherwise they will intensify their stir.
