SRINAGAR: The twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region will be connected with the rest of the country through railway lines, Minister for Finance Dr Haseeb Drabu said.
Replying to a debate on the resolution moved by legislator Yashpal Sharma and supported by Vibodh Gupta, Ajatshatru Singh and Romesh Arora, Dr Drabu informed the Legislative Council that preliminarily exercise for extension of railway line upto Poonch and Rajouri has already been conducted by the Northern Railway and the matter was being pursued vigorously with the Centre. He said the State Government was making serious efforts to get the ambitious rail project for Poonch and Rajouri incorporated in the next Railway Budget of the Government of India. (AGENCIES)
