Poor BSNL service irks Sopore residents

SRINAGAR, Aug 4: The customers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have complained about erratic service provided by the company in the town.
Mohammad Ashraf, President Sopore Traders Union said that the people have been facing immense problems due to poor services provided by the BSNL.
Ashraf accused BSNL officials of deliberately putting the people in trouble. He said they have many a times raised the issue with the BSNL authorities, but the BSNL authorities had failed to improve the services.
“Sopore BSNL exchange has the capacity for 5000 land line connections, which earlier were run, but from last few years due to the poor performance only 900 land line connections are functional,” he said.
The BSNL subscribers also said that the internet service is worst hit, which has become the reason for their loss in business. “Internet and mobile services has also put a lot of inconveniences to the people,” Shopkeepers said.
“Many a times we have informed our higher ups of BSNL regarding the matter, but they have failed to take any measure in this regard,” they added.
Ashraf also said that the employees of BSNL in Sopore are not producing paper generated bills to its customers. “The BSNL employees say that they have no paper available in the office for generating the bills and even printers are not working,” he added.
