Poor power, water supply triggers protest

JAMMU, May 18: Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir (MSJK) activists here today under the leadership of their president, Sunil Dimple staged a protest demonstration against PDD and PHE for poor power and water supply in the ongoing hot summer days.
The protesters including a large number of women and children were holding hand fans and empty buckets and they raised slogans against PDD and PHE departments.
Addressing the protesters Sunil Dimple said there will be a massive agitation if the issue of poor water and power supply is not resolved soon along with the issues of wrong power bills.
He claimed that the worst hit areas by poor water and power supply are Jammu city, Janipur, New Plot, Talab Tillo, Sarwal, Bakshi Nagar and Rehari.
“Failure of BJP to start Chenab Water Supply Scheme for Jammu is responsible for the problem of drinking water in Jammu to a large extent,” the MSJK leader mentioned that the Government of India should to return hydel power projects like Salal, Uri etc to J&K.
Dimple demanded free 500 units of electricity per month for the people of J&K.
Rekha Devi, Koushalya, Rani Devi, Shakuntla, Poonam, Mangu Singh, Partap Singh, Vikram Singh, Sudershan Sharma, Rinku Sharma and many others were also present in the protest.
