Poor water supply irks Sainik Colony residents

JAMMU, Mar 14: Residents of Sainik Colony, Sector-E are suffering a lot due to poor water supply.
Deepak Kumar, a local of the area, informed that for the last one month they are getting water supply on third day while sometimes there remains no water supply even for five days.
Another resident informed that the water supply is made only for 30-40 minutes while they pay water tariff in full.
“Those who get water supply twice a day pay the same tariff which we do for getting water supply after 3-5 days and that too for 30-40 minutes,” he maintained.
Subedar Ajit Singh (retired) said the officials of the department concerned are also familiar with the issue and they say that water supply pipes have been damaged due to which there is such a problem.
Some other residents of the Colony informed that there are many illegal water connections in the area which the department concerned never checked.
The affected people said if the problem is not solved immediately then they will be left with no other alternate than to protest against the concerned department.
They have also urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of J&K to look into the issue so that residents of Sainik Colony may heave a sigh of relief.
