Srinagar, Aug 12: Police in south Kashmir’s Shopian have recovered poppy straw and arrested two drug peddlers.
A police spokesman said that acting on a specific information, a police party during naka checking intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03A 8955 and on checking, they recovered 26 kilograms of poppy straw.
“Two peddlers who were transporting this poppy straw were taken into custody. The arrested peddlers were identified as Bashir Ahmad Sofi and Ashiq Hussain Ganai,” the police spokesman said.
He said police have registered a case under FIR number 55/2015 under Section 15 NDPS Act in this regard and further investigation is going on.
