Sir,
There has been a rapid increase in the human population of the world, particularly in many of the Asian countries including India. In fact, population explosion is one of the most serious problems facing the country today. The tremendous growth in population has set at nought most of the planning and nullified the economic and other gains. We know that the land surface cannot be expanded and the natural resources are limited.
The increase in population is putting pressure on land and natural resources. It has led to massive deforestation, excessive urbanisation, unemployment, inflation, shortage, slums congestion etc. Rising population has resulted in several complications for the country. Due to excessive population, forests get destroyed affecting food production and industry. Growing population leads to unemployment.
If population explosion is not checked, it will adversely affect economic developments. Whatever progress is made in the field of agriculture and industry will be off-set by the ever increasing population,. What we need is family planning! Some very hard decisions need to be taken. Otherwise, India is heading towards a catastrophe of gigantic scale.
