Portraits of prominent persons unveiled

JAMMU, Mar 30: Shree Vishwakarma Library and Research Centre, New Plot today unveiled six portraits of prominent personalities of the community who have given distinguished services to the society.
The unveiling ceremony was accomplished by R.L Chargotra and Prof. Kalidas.
Ramesh Angotra, Convener of the Library said the portraits will inspire youngsters for social work.
Those whose portraits were unveiled were Chuni Lal Dhiman (1935-2020), he was nominated as MLC in 1975 by NC; Dr. Sat Pal (1952-2023), he worked as Director Social welfare, Director Information and retired as Special Secretary (Tourism) in December 2010; K.C Chargotra (1938-2022), he was among leaders who established BSP in J&K; Mani Ram Chargotra (1917-1997), he was an active and dedicated social worker who helped Vishwakarma community in land and revenue matters; Munshi Ram Salgotra (1934-1996), he was first among Vishwakarma workers who attempted to carryout Survey of Lohar/Tarkhans in J&K and Amar Nath Virdhi (1925-2011), he is considered as the founder member of Vishwakarma Temple, New Plot.
All portraits were decorated with garlands and special lights were used to illuminate the hall. Grand children and families of all these personalities were specially invited to witness the moments.
