JAMMU, Dec 18: The Government has taken many initiatives to ensure proper nutrition and better health of the children and mothers. Poshan Abhiyan is one among those initiatives. As it is an important step in ending malnutrition.
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) District President Jammu South Rekha Mahajan during her interaction with Anganwadi workers and helpers.
Appreciating the role of Anganwadi workers and helpers in successfully spreading Poshan Abhiyan in Jammu and Kashmir, she said that this Abhiyan is the celebration of good health and a reminder of our fight against malnutrition.
“The objective of the program is to reduce malnutrition in the country in a phased manner and achieve improvement in the nutritional status of Children from 0-6 years, Adolescent Girls, Pregnant Women, and Lactating Mothers in a time-bound manner,” she said.
“For centuries, the culture of consuming these grains existed in India, but processed foods have taken their place, leading to inadequate nutrition for people. Therefore, if we want to eliminate malnutrition, we must adopt coarse grains into our diet, and this change must begin from our homes. In this regard, our Anganwadi workers serve the indispensable role of educating people. Rekha also enquired about the facilities provided to the Anganwadi Centers under Poshan Abhiyan,” she added.
Poshan Abhiyaan is a flagship program of the Government of India. Under the umbrella of visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership great care is provided to pregnant women and also for the child who has to give birth.
A proper diet is essential from the very early stages of life for proper growth and development. There must be adequate focus not only on child nutrition but also on the mother’s nutritional status.
On the occasion, Mandal President and Vice Chairman Cantonment Bharat Bhushan, District Vice President Narinder Gupta, Rishil Langeh, Daler Singh, Lucky Manhas, and Rakesh Sharma distributed cereals such as rice, wheat flour, pulses, and oil among the children, Pregnant women, and Lactating Mothers.
