KISHTWAR June 4: Senior National Conference leader and former minister Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo today assailed the PDP-BJP Government for ignoring vital sector of education in terms of infrastructure and staff.
“The worst example of the governmental apathy is Government Degree College Kishtwar, which is functioning without a Principal for the past three months, the peak of the current academic session”, Kichloo said in a statement.
He said the college is facing several other maladies due to the absence of the head, which has left the lecturers and other staff without salaries for the past three months, as drawing and disbursing powers have not been assigned to anyone. He said non-disbursement of salaries have added to the miseries of the staff during the ongoing holy month of Ramazan. He said the college administration has not submitted the admission fees of about 650 newly joined students to the Jammu University.
Kichloo expressed concern over delay in posting of the Principal to the college and resultant problems to the staff and the students. He also sought release of salaries to the staff and submission of admission fee and other documents with the Jammu University. He assured a group of students, which called on him, that the issue will be taken up with the concerned so that head of the institution is posted without further delay. He appreciated the anxiety of the students on account of their academics and said the overall scenario is equally in disarray in various others sectors too.
“It seems the Coalition Government has abdicated its responsibilities towards the people”, Kichloo maintained.
