Postal Colony area facing blackout for 3 days

JAMMU, July 3: It may sound incredible but is a fact that two transformers installed in the area near Gurdwara and Postal Colony in Bakshi Nagar during last two days after the old transformer in the area developed a snag on July 1 failed to function more than half an hour with the result the entire areas is reeling under darkness for last three days in this hot and humid temperature.
The residents of the locality said that after pursuing the concerned officers an old transformer was installed in the area at 5 pm yesterday and it became operational at 7 pm but could not function more than half an hour.
They said this evening another old repaired transformer was installed in the area after the residents pursued the issue with concerned Executive Engineer and AEE and it also lasted for half an hour with the result the entire area continues to plunge into darkness putting people especially the old and infirm as well as infants to lot of trouble in this hot and humid temperature.
The residents have made an appeal to the Chief Engineer PDD demanding that a new transformer be installed in the area to cater to the needs of the people as entire locality is metered area and people are regularly paying the electric bills.
