Postal Deptt to upgrade 20 POs

SRINAGAR, Mar 23
: As part of its up-gradation process of existing post offices in the State so as to attract more customers the Postal Department would upgrade 20 post offices by the end of March.
Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, Chief Postmaster General, Jammu and Kashmir circle, John Samuel, said that people in the State would get a lot of benefit from modernized postal service and the work has already been started in this regard.
He said 10 post offices each in Jammu and Kashmir division will be upgraded, where e-mail and fax delivery will also be available for customers.
“People living in remote areas who have no access to internet and fax can avail threes facilities on Post Offices that too on nominal rates,” Samuel said. Samuel said GPO Srinagar within few months will touch highest business in the country.
“As a part of improving services in Srinagar, Zakoora Post Office will be made into delivery Post Office from April 1, to facilitate the people living in the area to get mails faster,” Samuel said.
