Poswal for disposal of petition pertaining to ST

JAMMU, Sept 3: President, Bharatiya Gujjar Mahasabha Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal urged the National Commission of Schedule Tribe to adopt Maharashtra modal in utilizing the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) funds of J&K.
A petition was submitted before the Chairman National Commission of Schedule Tribe by Poswal here today. He discussed and requested the Commission regarding the expeditious disposal of petition pertaining to Schedule Tribe of J&K.
The petition envisaged various issues including granting of representation of Schedule Tribe (Gujjars and Bakarwals) in Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council, Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, expeditious establishment of full-fledged Directorate of Tribal Affairs J&K and creation of Ministry of Tribal Affairs J&K and reminder to the J&K Government regarding pending petitions on various issues of the community.
The Chairman assured Poswal that the genuine demands under the previous petitions were already discussed with Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson UPA in view of overall upliftment of the Gujjar Bakarwal Community and added that in case Government’s response lags behind the matter the Commission will take firm measures accordingly.
