NEW DELHI, Feb 8: Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, BJP leader and national executive member discussed the issues of tribal people of Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan with national president ST Morcha and member Rajya Sabha Ram Vichar Netam.
“The Schedule Tribe (ST) status has helped educated Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir become IAS, IPS officers and judiciary and render services across India. There are around 12 per cent population of Gujjars in Jammu and Kashmir according to 2011 census. But the Gujjars there recently protested for reservation in promotion and the issue must be looked into and addressed as well because police used brute force to quell the protests,” Poswal told Netam.
Poswal also apprised Netam of issues of a large chunk of migratory Gujjars who live temporality in the country and are deprived of school education. He demanded mobile schools for them.
