Power crisis grips Baramulla villages

SRINAGAR, Mar 7: Many villages in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district are facing power crisis and villagers have lambasted the Power Development Department (PDD) for its failure to ensure scheduled power supply.
The residents of Zagyar- Sheeri village told Excelsior that there was no electricity in the area from last one and half months, but PDD didn’t bother to restore it despite repeated requested.
They said due to the PDD’s casual attitude hundreds of families have been forced to reel under darkness.
The villagers said that they were surprised to see that PDD has sent them monthly bills despite knowing the fact that the power supply was not restored in the habitation from last more than 40 days.
“We appeal the Government to look into the matter and resolve our problem without any delay,” the villagers said.
