Power curtailment of 12 hours unacceptable: Ch Shahnawaz

POONCH, Dec 16: A local prominent leader, Shahnawaz Choudhary who recently contested DDC elections in Surankote has said that 12-hour long power curtailment in Surankote area of Poonch will not be acceptable.
While addressing a press conference at Surankote town along with local Bar Association office bearers today, Shahnawaz projected the local burning issues. He lambasted the Govt for ignoring district Poonch and particularly Surankote regarding the basic facilities like water and electricity supply, health and education.
He said that there was more than 12 hours electricity cut in district Poonch during severe winters, which is great injustice and high discrimination with the people of border district. In this era, where the people demand industries, universities, highways etc, the people of this area are still not getting the sufficient water, power supply and health facilities. He said the hospitals of the district lack the basic facilities and doctors. There is worst condition of Education sector and roads connectivity, he regretted.
Shahnawaz appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and his administration to set up a Committee to take cognizance of these issues and direct the concerned to restore the electricity of the area. He warned the Govt that if the electricity will not be restored the people of the area will come out on the roads to stage protests.
President Bar Association Surankote, Murtaza Khan while speaking, extended the full support of the Surankote Bar to the cause and asked the Govt to act immediately, otherwise, Bar will join the protest.
Senior advocates who spoke on the occasion were, Mukhtar Sheikh, Iqbal Malik, Mohd Hussain Saleem, Sheraz Bajar, iftkhar Shah and others. Youth leaders Madasar Choudhary, Sikander Hayat, Asif Bajjar, Sarfraz Kassana, Ajaz Chouhan and Sher Khan were also present.
