JAMMU, June 2: Power Employees Coordination Committee (PECC) members today lodged a strong protest seeking reinstatement of staff and threatened suspension of work from Monday if PDD authorities failed to resolve their issue.
The protesting members under the chairmanship of Jaipal Sharma expressed strong resentment over the suspension of technical staff belonging to Class-III and Class-IV categories for the shortfall of revenue .The members strongly criticised the hasty decision of the administration who without taking a holistic view of the present situation in the UT, issued the suspension order.
It is pertinent to mention that people are right now in grip of fear and tension and do not allow outsiders even relatives to visit homes. Even usually, timely revenue paying consumers are not paying on time due to the fear of pandemic. The PDD employees are working on front line maintaining the essential power supply 24X 7 to all the hospitals, quarintine centers and even public at large has not faced any issues of electricity interruptions on account of the extra vigil maintained by the dedicated field staff of PDD.
The members after deliberations have decided to give 7 days time to the administration as Chief Engineer vide his letter dated June Ist, 2020 issued instructions to Superintending Engineer to frame a committee and complete the enquiry within seven days and arrive at a conclusion keeping in view the current situation. The employees are committed to work under all circumstances but at the same time management should also call for explanation of concerned if they feel that expected results are not coming, but issuing directly a suspension letter has dented the morale of the staff.
The Coordination Committee has appealed the Chief Engineer JPDCL to get the enquiry completed within the given time frame and prevent the situation from going out of hands.
