Power Enggs to go on protest leave on Sept 9

JAMMU, Aug 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) today decided to go on protest leave on Septemer 9.
A meeting of its apex body of Guidance Council under the chairmanship of Sachin Tickoo president JKEEGA and Peerzada Hidayatullah, general secretary was held at Jammu and Srinagar, respectively which among others was attended by all Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers who are members of the Association. The council deliberated the inordinate delay in the filling up the vacant positions which has severely dented the morale of the engineering fraternity.
While addressing the meeting Tickoo mentioned that currently there are two posts of Managing Director, three posts of Executive Director, five Chief Engineers, 14 Superintending Engineers, 61 Executive Engineers, 132 Assistant Ex- Engineers, 164 Assistant Engineers and around 350 Junior Engineers which are vacant leading to situation where every other person is having minimum two or three charge in the corporations of PDD.
The meet asserted that the situation is so gruesome that right from Chief Engineer to down the line up to Junior Engineer multiple charges have been assigned practically affecting the delivery of the services to the end consumer. The Chief Engineer of one of the most important wing viz. Project Wing, Kashmir has not been filled till date since the retirement of the last incumbent thereby leading to implementation issues of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, especially RDSS.
The Executive Engineers are being burdened by additional charges with each Executive Engineer holding the charge of two to three Divisions spanning across various Districts.
Hidayatullah said that they have been continuously following the resolution of HR issues and time and again we were assured of the resolution of all issues but to no avail. The significant issues of regularization, timely promotions against vacant posts, and recruitment at the Junior Engineer level have been lingering for quite a long time now. The fact is that the entire Engineer’s presently working in different Power Corporations has not been granted a single regular promotion.
The Guidance Council of both Jammu & Kashmir regions in an emergency meeting resolved that all the Graduate Engineers of J&K Power Development Department shall submit one-day protest leave to the Government for Sept 9, 2023 and shall assemble at PDD complex Jammu and Bemina, Srinagar on to register one-day peaceful protest against non-seriousness of the Government towards their legitimate demands.
