Power infrastructure collapses in Bari Brahmana industrial area: BBIA

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug 29: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has alleged that power supply infrastructure has been almost collapsed in the entire industrial complex due to attitude of neglect by the PDD authorities.
An urgent meeting of the members of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association was held here today under the chairmanship of  Lalit Mahajan,  president BBIA, in the presence of  Suresh Mahajan- senior vice president,  Vivek Singhal- secretary,  Viraaj Malhotra- treasurer BBIA  and members of BBIA in which the members present in the meeting raised serious concern in respect of  worst ever power supply scenario for the last few months, resulting huge production as well as financial losses to the working Industrial units.
They alleged that the power supply depends on the mercy of the Power Development Department, who always resorts to switch off the power supply without any intimation to the Industrial  units from the 50x2MV Grid Station, BB-1 & BB-II Receiving Station on the pretext of lame excuses like power shut down from Hira Nagar or Galadani. The worst sufferers units are those who engaged in the manufacturing of steel, plastics, chemicals and other products as it will take long time to restart  the production after removing the waste materials from the equipments which is a total loss to the Industrial units. The position is going out of the control  of the PDD due to old and obsolete equipments of these receiving stations.
They pointed out that  PDD has also failed to provide requisite linemen in the Industrial area as only four linemen deputed to look after the 17 power feeders. In spite of repeated requests and reminders to the concerned Chief Engineers for the replacement of faulty equipments, nothing has been done so far as it will take hours to rectify the faults of panels and other equipments which shows the casual attitude of the PDD.  The promise to provide 24- hour power supply to Industrial Sector is just hollow claims of Govt. There is strong resentment among the members of BBIA as PDD generating a revenue of Rs 150 crore from Bari Brahmana industrial area but is not using even just 2 %  of it for maintenance and upkeep of infrastructure here.
BBIA appealed to the DyCM  (Minister I/C Power) Dr Nirmal Singh and Industries Minister, Chander Parkash to ensure uninterrupted power supply to this Bari Brahmana Industrial complex.
