Power workers demand urgent action from KPDCL MD

SRINAGAR, July 9: A delegation from the Jammu and Kashmir Power Employees and Workers United Front met today with the Managing Director (MD) of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), presenting a detailed list of grievances and seeking prompt action and assurances.
A spokesperson highlighted key demands, including immediate budgetary support to ensure timely salary disbursement and release of pending wages for PDD employees, emphasizing their right to fair compensation. “The delegation urged swift implementation of the existing regularization policy for daily wagers under SRO 381 PDD, aiming to provide job security. They also called for equitable wage disbursement across all regions, noting delays in Kashmir, and emphasized the urgent release of child education allowances for employees’ families,” he said.
Addressing technical concerns, he said, the delegation advocated for the formation of technical supervision teams, accelerated cabling, and adoption of modern technology to mitigate risks. They demanded prompt issuance of safety equipment and comprehensive training programs for field staff. “Promotion and seniority issues were raised, with a request for improved functioning of the Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) and regular publication of seniority lists. Additionally, they stressed the need for grade revision for meter readers and medical reimbursement for daily wagers,” he said.
Furthermore, he said, the delegation called for the reinstatement and periodic review of the Power Employees Welfare Fund, along with immediate restoration of Government contributions to the fund.
