POWERGRID acquires 3 SPVs for TSPs

JAMMU, Mar 29: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna CPSU under the Ministry of Power, announced its acquisition of three Project Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for various Transmission System Projects (TSPs).
As per a statement, the company competed with several private sector players and emerged as the successful bidder in the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding process (TBCB) conducted by PFC Consulting Limited, as per the guidelines notified by the Government of India.
The three Project SPVs acquired by POWERGRID are Bhadla Sikar Transmission Limited, Dharamjaigarh Transmission Limited, and Raipur Pool Dhamtari Transmission Limited.
Bhadla Sikar Transmission Limited will establish an approximately 650ckm 765kV D/C Bhadla – Sikar Transmission Line, along with bay extensions and associated work, to evacuate power from the various Solar Energy Zones (8.1 GW) in Rajasthan into the National Grid. This project will reduce dependence on fossil fuels and align with the Government of India’s vision of achieving a 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030.
Dharamjaigarh Transmission Limited and Raipur Pool Dhamtari Transmission Limited will implement Transmission System Projects for EHV transmission system strengthening in Western Region Grid. These projects will include a 400kV D/C Transmission Line, creation of 220 kV level, and bay extension works at various substations in the Western Region with a transformation capacity of 2500 MVA.
The transmission system projects will cater to the requirement of electrical energy transmission for industries, households, and businesses, thus boosting the country’s economic development.
As of February 28, 2023, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 271 substations and more than 173,815 ckm and 493,863 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has maintained an average transmission system availability of more than 99.8%.
