DHARAMSHALA (HP), Dec 14: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) today signed an MoU with Governor of Himachal Pradesh (HP) through Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kangra, for providing one 1.5 Tesla MRI machine in Kangra under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The MoU was signed by Dev Kumar, Senior General Manager (HP) on behalf of POWERGRID and Dr Gurdarshan Gupta, CMO Kangra on behalf of Governor of HP, in the presence of Vipin Singh Parmar, Speaker HP Legislative Assembly, Rajiv Saizal, Minister for Health and Family Welfare (HP), Rajinder Garg, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (HP), Shanta Kumar, former CM of HP, V K Singh, Director (Personnel)-POWERGRID, T C Sarmah, Executive Director (CSR), POWERGRID, Kailash Rathore, Executive Director, POWERGRID, Northern Region-II and other senior officials from HP Government and POWERGRID.
Rajinder Garg, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (HP) on this occasion handed over certificate of appreciation to V K Singh, Director (Personnel), POWERGRID for the exemplary role played by POWERGRID in the State during Covid-19 Pandemic. As a responsible Corporate Citizen, POWERGRID has been extending support to various infrastructure activities of HP through its CSR initiatives.
Earlier one truck mounted sewer jetting machine, one litter picking machine, one truck mounted sweeping machine with vacuum cleaner and one truck mounted compactor was handed over to Municipal Corporation Shimla costing Rs 1.98 crore. Further, one SPV mounted vacuum assisted road sweeper, two sewer cleaning jetting machines costing Rs 1.31 crore had been handed over to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manali. Apart from this, 3250 solar LED street lights and 13000 twin bins dustbins costing Rs 11.49 crore, have been supplied and installed in various parts of HP.
Besides, POWERGRID had also undertaken efforts for skill development for local youth in district Lahaul and Spiti, through infrastructure additions & capacity building in field of mountaineering and allied activities worth Rs 32 lakh. As part of CSR efforts in the state, 4 Medical Mobile units costing Rs 1.06 crore to Bilaspur District Authorities, two ambulances one each in IGMC Shimla and District Hospital Chamba costing 19 lakh have been provided in the state of HP.
With the signing of this MoU today, POWERGRID has contributed approximately a total of Rs 21.65 crore, under CSR during last four years in Himachal Pradesh.
