JAMMU, Mar 5: To raise their demands before the government, a protest was held by the Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum (PPWF) here today.
The protest was held under the leadership of Ajit Singh, Chairman of the Forum in which the other members of forum participated.
Participants raised the slogans in support of their demand of removing anomaly in their pay scale. They alleged that Non-Gazetted J&K Police personnel and J&K Fire and Emergency Services personnel were facing discrimination as far as their pay scales are concerned.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajit Singh, said the effect is being given prospectively, which means from the date of order, whereas, the affect should have been given from the year 1996 when 5th Pay Commission was implemented throughout the state but only Police Department was left out. Some of them have even expired. Therefore, at least surviving strugglers should get the benefit.
He said Medical Allowance paid by the Central Govt with effect from July 2017 is Rs 1000 per month whereas, J&K is now UT and held the Medical Allowance of employees and pensioners in J&K UT should also be Rs 1000 instead of Rs 300.
Singh also demanded 10 % reservation for the wards of Policemen for admissions in professional colleges and recruitment.
Members of the forum further requested the LG Administration to release their pending dues without any further delay.
