NEW DELHI, Aug 14: ONGC, the most valuable Maharatna company, celebrated its 60th Foundation Day here today. It was on this day in 1956 that ONGC came into existence.
A series of events marking this momentous occasion were held at various work centers of ONGC with Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent charge), Petroleum and Natural Gas leading and rolling out the Diamond Jubilee celebrations at the Uran Plant of ONGC, 45 kilometers off Mumbai.
Expressing his elation on being part of the roll-out, Mr Pradhan said that he would ensure that the hard work, toil and commitment of ONGCians is realized by the nation as ONGC has added 8.5 lakh crore to the national exchequer over the length of its operations. Praising the spirit of ONGC staff, Mr Pradhan remarked that the sense of belongingness even in former employees to the organization is next only to the Armed forces.
The Minister remarked that a corporation of the stature of ONGC should also ensure implementation of the schemes of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Beema Yojna, Atal Pension Scheme, Mudra Scheme and the Sukanya Samriddhi Schemes through its CSR projects so that the benefits reach the lowest strata of the society. This, he said, would deliver the benefits to the needy and would help in integrated growth of the Nation.
ONGC CMD, Dinesh Kumar Sarraf led the jubilant ceremony on 60th ONGC Day, at company headquarters at Tel Bhavan, Dehradun. In his congratulatory message to the employees, he exhorted them to continue to improve internal benchmarks and try to exceed global standards. The manner in which we utilize technology and our approach to capital utilization will be key determinants in present days, he said.
ONGC would be commemorating the Diamond Jubilee year with renewed pledge and demonstrative rededication to strive for ensuring energy security of the nation.
Meanwhile, 60th ONGC Day celebrations were held at all regional centres, offshore and onshore work locations, institutes and plants.
