Pragti Nagar, Vinayak Nagar residents facing health hazards

JAMMU, Mar 13: The residents of Pragti Nagar Gali Number One Upper Barnai Ward 65 are facing health hazards due to choking of drain in front of the local temple.
In a statement Rajnath Raina a socio -political leader said that in case the garbage dumped in the drain is not removed immediately there is every apprehension that epidemic may engulf the area. He made an appeal to Commissioner, Jammu Municipality to issue directives to concerned officers to visit the area and see the condition themselves.
Raina said people are totally worried as authorities have failed to get the garbage removed from the drain which has become a breeding point for mosquitoes, flies and other insects which can spread the epidemic including Dengue.
The residents of Vinayak Nagar Extension Muthi are also facing the same problem where a drainage nullah is creating havoc especially during heavy rains. The residents said that despite the repeated pleas to concerned authorities of JMC they failed to construct or clean the nullah of garbage and stones which are hindering free movement of water in it and during the rainy season when in spate the water enters adjoining houses perishing the household goods.
The residents said moreover the filth of nallah which gets scattered in adjoining lanes of the Nallah are not being removed as no Safai Karamcharis have been deputed in the area by the civic body.
