SRINAGAR, Jan 6: The birth anniversary of the founder of the Khalsa Panth, Guru Gobind Singh, also known as Prakash Parv, was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety in the Kashmir Valley on Monday.
The largest gathering took place at the Gurdwara Chatti Patshahi in Rainawari, Srinagar, where a large number of members of the Sikh community, including men, women, and children, gathered despite the cold weather conditions to pay obeisance.
Special prayers were offered for peace, stability, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and the whole of India during the occasion.
The day was celebrated with fervour in other parts of the Valley as well, including Tral, Baramulla, Anantnag, and Pulwama.
A member of the community while throwing light on the occasion at the Gurudwara in Anantnag said that the day is being observed as the Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
He said the birth of Guru Gobind Singh has taken place only to eradicate cruelty and to protect the oppressed.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has extended warm greetings to the Sikh community and all those celebrating the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He highlighted the life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who exemplified truth, honesty, and loyalty to his people.
All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) on Sunday greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the founder of Khalsa Panth, Guru Gobind Singh. APSCC also prayed for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Gurupurab.
All political and social activists of the Kashmir valley have also extended their greeting to the members of the Sikh community on the occasion.
