Prakash Premi’s Dogri books released

UDHAMPUR, Feb 19: Rachnakar Kala Sahitya Akademi Udhampur released three Dogri books, entitled ‘Geeten Da Banjara’, ‘Amar Balidaan’ and `Lok Nayak Mian Dido’, written by eminent veteran Dogri writer and Sahitya Akademi awardee Prakash Premi, in a simple but an impressive function organized at Old Age Home Udhampur.
The function was presided over by Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha Jammu and eminent Dogri writer Darshan Darshi was Chief Guest on the occasion while the dais was also shared by Padmashree Prof Shiv Nirmohi, Brigadier (Retd) Satish Sharma, Rashpal Singh and Prakash Premi himself.
During the function, detailed papers were presented by Dr Yash Raina on ‘Geeten Da Banjara’, Surjit Hosh Badsali on ‘Amar Balidaan’ and Jagdeep Dubey on Lok Nayak Mian Dido’.
Darshan Darshi, in his address, said that Prakash Premi is a source of inspiration for many and is a living legend of Dogri literature. He gave certain references to highlight his colossal contributions for enriching vocabulary and promotion of regional cultural heritage through his literary works.
Prof Lalit Magotra, in his presidential address, said that Prakash Premi has contributed a lot to Dogri literature and Dogri lovers expect more from him in future also because whatever he has written is a class that helps Dogri literature to stand at par with best literature written in any language.
Rashpal Singh and Satish Sharma, who were special guests, also spoke at length about their association with the prolific writer and his contributions to society as a creative person.
Prakash Premi also spoke on the occasion and shared his experiences with the audience. Earlier Ashutosh Prashar welcomed all on behalf of Prakash Premi and Rachnakar Kala Sahitya Akademi Udhampur. Ramalo Ram, eminent folk artist and recipient of this year’s Padmashree award was also honoured on the occasion. The function was attended by galaxy of littérateurs, literature lovers and family members of Prakash Premi.
