‘Prakriti’ commences at NIFD

JAMMU, Aug 11: Two days annual Exhibition cum Sale “Prakriti” commenced today at National Institute of Fashion Designing (NIFD).
On the occasion, Chandra Gupta, Director of Handloom Department, was the chief guest, who inaugurated the exhibition.
The Fashion and Textile Department students were divided into three groups “Sanidhya”, “Deforestation” and “Jeevika”. The “Sanidhya” depicted love towards nature, “Deforestation” depicted the effects of cutting down the trees and “Jeevika” depicted three major constituents of nature—water, earth and plants.
The Interior Design students had created a “Woods Ville”, which had a setting of a living area of a room in a jungle resort. Illusions of nature were created on walls, the wooden patter were used for the ceiling and marbling texture was done for the flooring.
Fashion and Textile Department students put on exhibit all the work they had created throughout the academic year.
While speaking, Chandra Gupta encouraged the students and the teachers for their hard work, innovative ideas and creations, which were presented very creatively and aesthetically.
She gave certificate of appreciation to the students for participating in the exhibition and also for their hard work. She also presented certificate of Vogue Honour, who has send their designs in an internationally acclaimed show by Vogue magazine to 27 students.
Centre Director, Vanita Thakur, said that the students of Jammu are now opening on to the idea of seeing designing as a career.
