JAMMU, Mar 9: A Central team of Prasar Bharti, Marketing Division, visited Integrated Farming System Research Model in SKUAST -Jammu, which was inaugurated by Governor N N Vohra.
Prof Dileep Kachroo, Chief Scientist & Head, Farming System Research Centre, explained the visiting team about the role of IFS-Model for enhancing profitability to small and marginal farmers under irrigated conditions of Jammu region.
The visiting delegation was explained that the model was economically viable and gives a net profit of Rs 1.53 lac per hectare in comparison to Rs 70 to 80 thousand per hectare as per existing system (Rice-Wheat) under irrigated conditions of Jammu.
Besides, the model takes care of the sustainable and global warming issues through boundary plantation, re-cycling of bio-degradable farm waste as a source of nutrients and helps in reduction of emission of green house gases, Prof Kachroo added.
