Prayers offered at Hazratbal

SRINAGAR, Aug 10:
Lakhs of devotees today offered Friday prayers in different mosques and shrines across the Kashmir valley on the occasion of martyrdom of Hazrat Ali.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah paid homage to Hazrat Ali, who attained martyrdom on the 21st day of Ramadan, the month of fast in the Islamic calendar.
In a message on the eve of the holy day, the Chief Minister said that Hazrat Ali was true personification of knowledge, justice, honesty and bravery embedded with mercy and high values of humanism.
The main congregation was held at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad, historic Jamia masjid, shrine of Mehboob-ul-Aalam, Sheikh Dawood Batmaloo, Sheikh Nooruddin Wali Charar-e-Sharief and other shrines and mosques.
At Hazratbal shrine thousands of devotees, who had come from different parts of the valley, had darshan of the Holy Relic after Friday prayers. The devotees visiting the shrine will have a glimpse of the Holy Relic after every prayers till tonight. (UNI)
