To provide 24×7 hassles free hiring of ponies, pithoos and palkies , a computerised pre-paid system has been launched to facilitate pilgrims visiting the Holy shrine of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi . This facility integrated with CCTV cameras and video conferencing would be available round the clock. This is really a welcome step and yet another facility provided to the pilgrims with intent to make their journey up to the Holy cave easy, transparent and assured.
Replica of this system is available at some leading airports across the country. In Katra , however, the facility is novel in its form in that the system is an integrated nine pre-paid counters from Katra to Bhairon Ghatti located at an average distance of 1.75 km from each other at Katra, Banganga, Charan Paduka, Adhkuwari 1 & 2, Sanjighat, Parwati Bhawan, etc from where pilgrims would get ponies, pithoos and palkies.
It is pertinent to note that these counters would serve the purpose of complaints and grievances redressing centres as well. Not only shall all the concerned information be made available to the yatris but they will be provided with helmet, elbow and knee pads to provide preventive cover against any accidents etc, a novel and innovative step indeed. The Shrine Board deserves appreciation for initiating this integrated service provider mechanism for the pilgrims.
