SRINAGAR, July 30: A woman died in Kupwara district of North Kashmir as she could not reach hospital due to road block by protesters demanding electricity.
Reports said that Lali Jan, wife of Abdul Majeed Badana of village Danji Kalaroos, was 7 months pregnant. She suffered excessive bleeding and was on her way to Chogal hospital in Handwara.
When she reached Kawari Bridge in Kupwara, the people protesting against scarcity of electricity had blocked the road and she could not reach her destination leading to her death.
Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Aijaz Ahmad said that strict action against the persons involved in road block would be taken. At least they should have allowed safe passage to the woman.
