JAMMU, Sept 30:The Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) has announced the Amateur journalist awards for year 2023.
The awards were announced in a meeting of the Selection Committee of the Trust held here today under the chairmanship of Prof P N Trisal the distinguished linguist and literature. The meeting among others was attended by Trust Chairman C L Pandita, along with well known scholar Dr. R.L. Shant and Avtar Krishen. Besides Kashmiri Lal, Trustee, president PK, Virender Raina, Shadi Lal Rias, Sundri Lal Koul and Adarsh Ajit were also present.
The jury selected two amateur journalists for this year’s award after recognizing their exceptional contributions to the field of journalism.
Trust in hand out said that Pandit Prem Nath Bhat, a renowned lawyer and public figure was himself an amateur journalist of Anantnag Kashmir who was tragically martyred in 1989, continues to inspire mission of the Trust. For over two decades, the Trust has been dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of Kashmir, particularly through the protection of temples and shrines and other activities that serve the welfare of the community.
The selected amateur journalists will be honored in a prestigious ceremony scheduled to be held in Jammu on October 11. This annual tradition underscores the Trust’s commitment to encouraging and acknowledging excellence in amateur journalism.
Chairman C.L. Pandita, in his address in the meeting expressed satisfaction at the growing support from various political and social groups for the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill, a key agenda for the Trust. He appealed to the Government to enact this legislation, which would safeguard the priceless heritage of Kashmiri Hindus for generations to come.
