Website and promo for Dogra culture launched

JAMMU, Nov 19: In an impressive programme held at BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, here today, Website for International Dogra Legacy Excellence Award and promo of Dogri film “ The Great Dogra” were launched by party president, Sat Sharma, along with general secretary (Organization), Ashok Koul, former Dy CM Kavinder Gupta, Film Director Rajesh Raja, Pawan Sharma from PK Films and programme organizer Prof. Kul Bhushan Mohtra.
A large number of people from different fields were present on this occasion.
Sat Sharma, in his address said that Dogras have rich culture but unfortunately, the present generation is moving away from its roots and adopting Western life style, which is very unfortunate. The elders in the families should guide youngers to learn and adopt Dogra culture.
“Launching award for the people engaged in promotion of Dogra culture and a film dedicated to the brave sons of the soil will obviously motivate the younger generation to learn and practice Dogra culture”, Sat said.
Ashok Koul cited a few instances in the past, which were turning points in the preservation and promotion of Dogra culture. He said that consistent attempts should be made to reach the people through different modes and motivate them to remain connected to their own culture.
Kavinder Gupta said that Dogra culture has its own identity and still people in rural areas in particular, prefer Dogra dress, Dogri language but in cities and towns, people are fast losing their own identity.
Prof. Kul Bhushan Mohtra, shared how he and his colleagues developed idea of working for promotion of Dogra culture, adding that during the last over six months, different programmes were organized in a number of places in Jammu to make people familiarize with Dogra dress, Dogra foods and language and the public response has been very positive.
Rajesh Raja spoke on the theme of the film. He said that the sacrifice of 15 patriotic Dogras, to be shown in the film, would leave a mark in the minds of the people.
Pawan Sharma said that they have been coming out with short films and documentaries, which have received massive appreciation. Sanjeev Sharma conducted proceedings of the programme.
Prominent among those who were present included Parshotam Amit Manhas, G.L. Raina, Prem Gupta, Sanjeev Vaid, Sanjeev Luthra, Sanjita Dogra, Balbir Ram Rattan and others.
