Present situation in J&K precarious: PDP

JAMMU, Jan 20: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today termed the ongoing political situation precarious in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that there is a dire need that the party rededicates itself to the agenda of peace and development through dialogue and reconciliation as envisioned by its founder, Mufti Mohd Syeed.
According to the party spokesman, a high level meeting of the PDP leaders took place at Jammu’s party headquarter in which former legislators, senior leaders and supporters participated. The meeting asserted that PDP’s agenda is the only viable roadmap to get Jammu and Kashmir out of political uncertainty.
“Whether it was the Government led by Mufti Sayeed in 2002 or the subsequent times, PDP led the way towards a peaceful and prosperous J&K. Getting New Delhi and Islamabad to engage, initiating dialogue, giving incentives of the improving security situation to common people & ushering in a new era of development in the State have been the hall mark of PDP, meeting osberved.
It also underlined how Mufti Mohd Sayeed reined in even the staunchest opponents of state’s special status & initiated dialogue and reconciliation with an impeccable will and courage for the greater common good.
The leaders expressed serious concern over the prolonged detention of the PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, terming the incarceration of the leadership worrying and detrimental for the democracy to survive.
The meeting endorsed and appreciated the role of Party leadership in forging unity across political spectrum on the issue of common concern and stated that the party will not shy away to take any further initiatives in the direction of protecting the institutions of democracy.
The leaders expressed full confidence in the leadership of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, stating in unison that the party is intact, united and firm in its resolve to get Jammu and Kashmir out of the state of political uncertainty under her.
PDP leaders who took part in the meeting included Surinder Choudhary, Mastar Tasaduq Hussain, Ch Hussain Ali Wafa, Abdul Hameed Choudhary, Ved Mahajan, Th Falail Singh, Firdous Tak, RK Bali and several others.
